Hello

I am after an STL or 3d Model of a highly detailed North American P-51 Mustang, something that I can slice and make a rather large model out for a friend.

Cheers

Those models are often very cost some to develop, and when you buy the STL from sites like https://3dlabprint.com you agree to not share it, and it is probably watermarked as well, so they can sue you if you spread it. However sad that can be you can take the well - known wing profile for P-51, scale and tweak it a little (models have other Reynolds figure than full scale) and do it yourself.
I am using profili2 for wing profile management, it is a cheap software, but paid. You can also take the numbers from a profile and add them directly to CAD I believe, here is a "incomplete" profile database: http://m-selig.ae.illinois.edu/ads/coord_database.html.
And then there are 3-plans view of P51D on wikipedia, that you also can import to your CAD program.
Once done you need to consider the increased need for strength on a rc model especially in the triangle main wheel -> wing -> engine. Once you are satisfied with your work, don't forget to share the STL file.
