I have installed Bowden setup with a Chinese copy of the extruder. It came with a 0.2mm nozzle. Before I had that figured out, it was very bad results.
First make sure that the transfer zone (between hot zone and cold zone) is at least 2 mm long.
I printed the modular bowden mount from thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2193695, backplate, x-tension, front mount for cable chain.
Then the physical settings. I first had the screw of the bowden gearbox too tight to get filament through. Adjust it one full round tighter than when it does not grab the filament.
Then the sw settings. I had to increase steps for extruder motor to 469 steps/mm ( should have been 310 if they had a 3.1:1 gear as advertised).
After change of nozzle to 0.4 and heat block to the one that came with Anet A8 it works pretty well. I am still figuring out retraction (speed and length).
